Content generally can be of three main types, 1. Text, 2. Audio, and 3. Video, anything that conveys a message is content whether it be a script, recording, a simple quote or a podcast falls under the category of “content”. We are surrounded by content in one form or the other in the form of newspapers, the internet, television, radio, billboards, etc. The movies we watch, ads we see are based on a certain content type delivering a specific message to the audiences. The audiovisual content we come across daily is based on the written text that acts as a base for developing the specific content.

Content initially was limited to research papers, journals, theories, etc. but as the print media evolved the importance of healthy content was raised many folds, by the passage of time other mediums became available and content took different forms depending on the medium that was chosen, the basic text form of content has never experienced a decline in its importance but on the contrary content, quality took the limelight. With the introduction of the internet and its availability to the masses increased the importance of quality content like never before, writers try to understand the ever-changing analogy of how the content they write can influence their target audience.

Writing good content revolves around the fact that how smartly the content is organized and presented and how it can be made efficient in delivering the required message. Marketing campaigns have always been dependent on content writers, the more effective the content the better the marketing campaign. Content should not be too long at the same should not be too short that it fails to deliver the intended message, the length of the content should be sufficient enough to deliver the message clearly without losing its positive appeal.

Good content should be able to present its target audience with the facts and should try to dig out the lesser-known facts for its audience bringing an appeal and gaining their interest. The content writer should be aware of the likes and dislikes of the target audience and should build the content as per the audience’s taste.

The subject matter that a content writer chooses plays a critical role in the ranking of the content, the subject should be something that is not offensive and should present something fresh to its audience. The idea may not be new but the writing approach should be such that the consumer finds it interesting and informative. Each and every piece of content should be written with a goal in mind what message the content should deliver? References and information included in the content should complement the goal the content is set to achieve.

The content should be able to stand out among the rest, to attain this not very easy target, the writer of the content should spy on its competition, what are the competitors offering and what value can be added to the content. The content should be presented in a unique manner breaking the barriers of monotony. Uniqueness can be achieved by developing a unique writing style that is not overshadowed by the competitors and is engaging at the same time. Go for more savvy words and phrases that add to the appeal of a normal simple word or phrase. At times it is acceptable to use a keyword with a low search volume provided it complements the overall positive appeal of the content.

Psychology is a science without a definition, similarly, there is no formula for ideal content, content quality is all about the perception it helps build for its target audience. Content writing cannot be generalized but it depends on the target it is generated for entirely.
