“Life is a tragedy for those who feel, but a comedy for those who think”
The great Buddha also said that this world is full of difficulties and hardships. Difficulties are there, but they have a charm of their own. Trouble, if properly surmounted, can yield us the comfort, the happiness, the confidence so essential for leading a successful life. Professor Arnold Toynbee, the eminent historian said that civilization rose to existence. The same is applicable to the individual. “Adversity can be the abrasive that puts an edge on courage, it can be the trumpet that calls for the latent nobility in man. It brings us close to God”.
Trouble and difficulties, what a blessing in disguise they are. Without them there would have been no struggle in our lives. That would have made our lives dull and boring. Happiness would have lost half of his charm and attraction if there were no sadness, if there were no sorrows. Spring would not have appeared so lovely, so charming, so fascinating and there would no be rejoicing and celebrations on the eve of spring had not the ugly memories of a dreary winter been associated with it. The moon would not be a symbol of mirth and innocence if there were no blazing sun and no dark nights.
Struggle, struggle and constant struggle, this is what life is made of. And we can achieve the glories of life only when we are able to plunge into the sea of troubles and difficulties with a cheerful smile in spite of the dangers that might beset out path of success.
We should handle all difficult situations with a singleness of purpose and should not waver at all. We should be firm in our stand and should “Struggle with soul within and God overhead”. We should face the trouble squarely with the firm faith glowing in out bosoms that “If winter comes can spring be far behind?”.
After having successfully conquered troubles and hardships, we can look back and smile at our past lapses and failures. We are amply rewarded for our struggle because we have a sense of satisfaction and a feeling of triumph. “Life is note merely a bed of roses”.
Shelly says about life, “I slept and dreamt, life was beauty, I woke and found life was duty”.
Cowards are left behind in the race of progress, as someone has well said, “The clock of granite which is an obstacle in the path-way of the weak, becomes a stepping stone in the pathway of the strong”. When we have removed all such obstacles of granite forces from our lives by our hard effort, how relieved we are. How relaxed we seem to be. What happiness, what delight and what ecstasy we free. I sometimes wonder what our life would be like without the troubles.
