Pleasures are things that provide enjoyment and fun. Which man does not desire pleasures? Pleasures to relieve the monotony of everyday life, to bring a new spark to his eyes, to give a new meaning to his work, pleasures to enjoy , to savor, to relish and then to remember.
Pleasures are not really confirmed to the rich. The best pleasures come cheap. The poets have always known this fact and acknowledged it like Wordsworth in the Daffodils, which he remembers when he is solitary or in a thoughtful mood. This is not only the case of Wordsworth but all others have felt and enjoyed long lasting pleasures in only dew and flowers in the morning. Did these things cost money? No they were in the eyes of the beholder and they kept giving pleasures even after the event.
Have you ever walked in a wood in autumn and felt the beautiful brown leaves forming a carpet for your feet. Is not that an exquisite pleasure to remember when it is cold and there is snow?
Now a days even the pleasures are regimented, organized tours, organized sight seeing, organized trips. They take away the fun to wonder by oneself and stop where one wants and take photographs of what one likes, besides, these organized pleasures are expensive and cost money.
You can get great pleasure from reading a good book, planting pictures for fun. All pleasures are cheap but they make a person richer and happier.
Have you ever seen a baby with a lot of toys…expensive toys? The baby invariably leaves the toys and plays with the mother’s pots and pans, creating a racket and enjoying himself. The children are happy to play with stones and sticks. It is only the modern man who feels that he has to spend money for his pleasures. As he moves away from nature and simple things of life, he makes money and feels that it is the done thing to spend money on what he considers pleasures.
After all the man who enjoys the every day simple things of life, who uses his senses for his pleasures if the richest because his pleasures abound and he will never be bored.
